Recently, the GSTN has enabled 12-digit Aadhaar number authentication or eKYC to introduce verification of taxpayers registered on the GST Portal for the existing taxpayers. Suppose a 12-digit Aadhaar number is available. In that case, the Primary Authorized signatory & one person (Proprietor/Partner/Director /Managing Partner/ Karta) of the registered entity can go for Aadhaar Authentication. However, if the above-mentioned authorised signatories of a registered business entity do not have an Aadhaar number, they can upload any of the below-stated documents to undergo e-KYC :- • Aadhaar enrolment number • Passport • Voter ID card • KYC Form • Certificate issued by a Competent Authority • Other documents that the GSTN might specify When an existing registered taxpayer logs in, a pop-up box will appear asking, "Would you like to authenticate the Aadhaar of Partner/Promotor & Primary Authorized Signatory?". You can choose between "Yes, navigate to My Profile" or "Remind me later." The taxpayer can choose to ignore the pop-up box and continue to navigate on the GST Portal or head towards 'My Profile' and click on the tab 'Aadhaar Authentication Status'. They can use the option of sending the Aadhar authentication link. After that, upload the 'E-KYC documents' option will appear.
